Intermediate Pottery

Sharpen your pottery skills with our intermediate course! Join us from 2pm-4pm. Participants will learn more advanced techniques on the wheel. Safety and Liability waiver and Makerspace Playbook must be completed prior. Ages 16+ welcome. Participants will return two weeks later, on July 20th at 2pm to glaze their pieces.

Participants in this class MUST have taken a previous Pottery for Beginners class or have contacted the library for an exception.

*Registrant name must match the name given when class attendance is taken, as well as the name signed on our Safety Waiver. Registrants with duplicate information (ie. email or phone number) may be cancelled at Branch Manager's discretion.

Pottery for Beginners for Tween/Teens

Tweens and teens! Join us for a pottery class, where we will be learning how to throw on the wheel. No experience necessary. All supplies are provided and registration is required. This class is open for ages 9 to 15. 

Part 2 of the class on Monday, July 15th at 2pm will be for glazing your piece.

Participants must be able to attend both classes. Participants must also have a safety waiver signed by a parent or guardian before the class. Closed toe shoes must be worn to participate.

Open Cosplay Workshop

Do you have a cosplay you're stuck on? Do you have a cosplay you want to make but don't know where to start? Or simply want to discover what cosplay is about? Come hang out with Maria, she's a seasoned cosplayer, who can teach you the ropes, from sewing a costume, to making accessories and putting on makeup! Come learn and be part of the vibrant cosplay community in Florida. For ages 7 and up.

Important Notice:  

*We have a limited amount of sewing machines, so not everyone will have one to themselves.  

*We have limited amount of fabric so we can`t guarantee we will have the specific fabric you need, so come prepared.

  • If you have a costume you're already working on, bring it with you. 
  • If you have your own sewing materials ready (example, fabric), please bring them with you.  
  • If you want to learn how to do makeup, please bring your own makeup and brushes.  
  • If you don't know where to start, or have not started yet, that's okay, we will guide you just please bring reference pictures of your character.

If you have any questions about what you can bring, or anything at all, please contact Miss Maria PRIOR to the event.

What is a book tasting?
 Attendees will sample different kinds of books from a special "book menu". Each course will allow participants to choose a type of story they would like to "taste" for a chance to read an excerpt or share with others at the table. At the end of the program any books can be checked out to enjoy. This will be an opportunity to try new genres, discuss different picks, and perhaps try a book you normally wouldn't choose for yourself!
