Event Details

Join Earthchild Sarah every week as she teaches the basics of painting and drawing.

In June we focus on our summer reading theme "All Together Now" by creating beautiful and intricate mandalas. We will learn about the history and meaning of the mandala, and look at a variety of different styles and designs for inspiration before choosing our medium, preparing our measurements, and going to work on our own mandalas. This is a meditative and relaxing way to create beautiful patterns and intricate designs. Choose your own color scheme, use any medium, build it out of layers of colorful paper, paint it, go monochromatic, the possibilities are endless.

Complete beginners to intermediate artists can come get expert guidance from someone who has been in the arts for nearly four decades. Learn how to improve your technique in watercolor, acrylics, pastels, graphite, charcoal, mixed media and more. We also cover the fundamentals of drawing such as composition, color, proportions, shading, texture etc. You can work on the suggested projects and exercises or bring in your art for advice and guidance on how to improve. Questions are welcome, community is encouraged. Materials are provided.

If you register and are unable to make it, please notify the library at least 48 hours in advance to be considerate of those on the wait list.
