IFAS Presents: Why Insects Are Good
Most people are more aware of the few insects that cause problems than they are of the many beneficial insects. Insects pollinate many of our fruits, flowers, and vegetables. We would not have much of the produce we have if it weren't for insects. Discover other benefits of insects in your Florida Friendly Landscape.

This lecture is presented by UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County staff.

Master Gardeners Present: Cycad Plants

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
New River
Meeting Room

Like all cycads, the coontie has ancient origins. But this Florida plant is the only cycad native to the United States. It's also the preferred food source for larvae of the rare Atala butterfly. This Florida native cycad is a workhorse in the landscape. As an evergreen that grows 2 to 3 feet tall in clumps, it fills a niche in the Florida-Friendly Landscaping™ program. It grows easily in many different soil types and performs well in both sun and in shade. Come learn more about it with Master Gardener Volunteer Tracy Weaver.
